I saw the Oban Star Racer website a few months ago and thought it looked pretty cool! Too bad it's not in the US.
You can download the trailer here: http://www.pocketmovies.net/detail_355.html
There's no dialogue, but it looks real pretty! The backgrounds look kind of like Laputa.
It's cool how there are more and more cool anime (if you want to call it that) coming from outside of Japan.

Oban Star will air on ABC Family weekends at 10:30AM starting June 10th, but they will have a one hour series premiere on a special day- Monday, June 5th from 8 AM until 9 AM that will encore that Saturday from 10:30 AM until 11:30AM.

Otherwise they're saying ToonDisney June 3rd.

YaY merci :D

Anyone else reminded of the pod races from StarWars?

The animation has a very unique look and that makes it interesting from the start. I hope the story and characters are good too.

It has very nice animation though the faces without noses are a little wierd given the detail used for the bodies. I didn't notice anything wrong with the dub,,, not like it's a 4kids, and the characters seem to have interesting personalities with a full range of emotions. The action effects looks good as well. Most importantly it's monkey free

Shoot! I should have taped it this morning. That being the case, don't tell me about it until I watch it on Saturday!

Where did you hear the Japanese themes? I heard that the opening and ending for the English broadcast are different.

:| I haven't yet warmed up to YouTube because I haven't figured out how to save what I find.

When it was mentioned that the Japanese open was changed to an English one, I checked my anime music sites and found nothing. On a very slim chance I ran a search and found both opening themes. (This is one of those grey areas that make me furious at how difficult sharing this info is now and why I'm being cagy and won't say it openly. I just barely found the French end theme for CL because of deletions)

The themes seem to be the same just the images are different. I'm not certian about the Japanese themes yet

Ah yes.
Oban Japanese opening
Oban French opening
Oban English opening
Well, I'm kind of sorry to say that I'm not really impressed with any of the opening songs. I guess I like the Japanese one the best. The French opening has a really generic beat. Isn't the Japanese one is by Yoko Kanno? It doesn't sound like it.

it IS Yoko Kanno ^^
I don't like the english one... The French and Japanese are better (there is a version with both French and Jap ^^)

You can't save videos from Youtube, it's for watching only

 I'd have never guessed that and couldn't find confirmation, but she does arange some great music. Does she make both English and Japanese/French? It surprized me she had chosen a Russian group for the Ghost in the Shell SAC openings, two of my favorites.

English themes, and imo, english popular music tends to be simpler, especially lyrics. This on does have a nice drive and a feeling of determination. I'd like to find a translation of the Japanese/ French.

I take it back. Aside from the weak beat, the song is pretty good. I'd have to say that the English opening is ok; better than others I've heard. Although I've only seen 3 episodes, I somehow feel that the opening song doesn't quite capture the feeling of the series.
I had heard that it was Yoko Kanno, but I was surprised when I heard the song. It doesn't sound like other things by her. The ending, however, does.
Here's a link to another forum where some guy translates the Japanese part of the opening lyrics: go here Looks like that's all that's out there so far.

Here are the French lyrics:

Tout ce que tu as aimé
Le destin l'a emporté
Pas cette fois,
Accroche-toi !
Molly fonce la chance va tourner
La vie s'ouvre devant toi
Entends-tu ton coeur qui bat ?
Tous les rêves sont permis
Envole-toi vers l'infini.

and my attempt to translate:

All that you loved
Fate has taken away
Not this time,
Hold on!
Molly, rush, luck will turn
Life opens up in front of you
Can you hear your heart beating?
All dreams are allowed
Fly away to infinity.

Cool, thanks for that. The lyrics do still carry the same theme more or less. It has more of a "Follow your dreams to destiny" where the english is more "never give up to reach your dreams"

And I do have the French lyrics, but it doesn't seem to start until the last half, so I'm thinking the first half must be Japanese. I didn't expect them to be in the same song.

Isn't that cool though? A half Japanese, half French song! I think it's cool.
