Chauve-Souris a écrit:(It really bugs me when subtitles don't follow the spoken script more or less exactly. Very distracting! )

They do that with Naruto, too.
I thought it was funny (undecided as to whether it was "ha ha" or "uh oh") when the name of another student was spoken, the subtitles read "[indistinct speaking]"...

Now, I don't think French/English translations will differ much. With Japanese they have to A. fit the mouth movements, and B. use context that Americans will relate too. I never really noticed the "context" difference until I left the subtitles up for Tenchi Muyo Wow, "that tickles" took a whole new meaning.

That's him. The last episode on AdultSwim, the Ki, or as they call it, chakra of the nine tailed fox demon, Kitsuni, was slightly released with Naruto's grief and anger. It's a great show, but I don't really like the story pace or how they end it just as something happens.

The français call him Insecateur, which I think is cool. (But the fact that they generally use different names here and in France bugs me. They coulda found a name for each character that had the right "feel" in both languages....)

That's the problem with anime based on manga. The manga is usually much better.

Yeah, like the Pokemon manga as compared to the anime. The anime's extremely childish, but the manga has the Elite Four nearly killing Red.

Yeah, and they don't use the actual name for Nine-Tailed Fox. I watch it, but it gets like really boring when a battle is lasting five episodes. It only got really intresting the last episode they had on the eve.

Heck, that's the problem with movies in general, based on books in general. I avoid watching movies if I have already read the book, whereas the reverse is usually quite rewarding. Image

Eh, it's kind of like an abridged visualization of a book. I'm sort of worried about what the musical/movie will be after reading all 1400 pages of the book.

besides movies based on book normally leave out several key elements of a story and would leave the audience confused unless they read the book
