Season 2 / #28-Unchartered Territory

Poor Aelita! She's not very accepted, is she? *is watching Episode 2 now* ^_^ It makes me want to cry! ^_^

Yeah, I actually noticed it while watching ep.2. It is VERY brief, and even though alone, I jumped and yelled, "Hey! The monocycle can fly?!" (But actually I talk to myself a lot -- and sometimes I even listen....)

And just a few seconds before it happened, while they were all racing to the rescue, I had felt sorry for Ulrich because he had a land vehicle. Wrong again, eh?

EPISODE 2 - 02: GREAT!!!
-
1: I've realized that the English voices are all (as far as I can tell) the same people that did season 1. Good, I like them all (including Jer's nerdy voice).
-
2: The French kids were happy to have wolves included in the action, but they are portrayed as villains. That isn't particularly good. (Usually, it's bats that are portrayed as bad guys.)
-
3: People comment on Aelita being so bad at adjusting to Earth. But, crikey, it's a whole new existence and "culture shock" is perfectly normal. I ask why, rather, do the Lyokids keep leaving her on her own? Someone should be with her at all times. Like in the lunchroom -- what does she know about types of food, as yet? Meantime, good old Yumes was hanging out at one of the tables making google-eyes at Billy-Boy. Crikey! (But where did Ael get her Earth clothes? Did Jer design them? The others brought Earth clothes with them into the virtualization/realization process, but Ael started from Lyoko!)
-
4: The monocycle can fly! (See above.)
-
5: I love the classical history connection about carthage and Scipio. Love it!
-
6: Did you see Aelita jump just a bit when that monster appeared in the fifth territory? Beautiful, understated animé!
-
7: The big battle in the fifth territory was pretty fast and fierce! Shootout at the OK Corral, almost!
-
8: I enjoyed Ael's zinger at Sis as much as the French kids did. Good scene!
-
9: GREAT! :moku:
-
Oh boy -- the notorious episode 2-03 tomorrow!

Actually I felt exactly the same. But it seems that most girls find him attractive...

Yes, some girls think he's attractive: I don't know why: maybe, because he's not like the others, different: as he think, his clothes....
But Hey! I don't like him :x
So, not all french fans like him ;)

It seems like the pattern is good girls fall for bad guys and vica verca. But not always, otherwise Aelita would like him!

Episode 2 was so good. I love the continuity! I think it makes everything so much better! The wolves? Nice. Really nicely drawn. What was her dream (well, nightmare) at the beginning? Was she dreaming of being chased by wolves? I didn't think that was Aelita in her dream. It looked like a little elf or something.

CS - I agree. Aelita is having some major culture shock at bing dumped into another world. She's still pretty naive about things, as evidenced by Sissi tricking her. That's pretty mean.
I wonder if the others ever thought about not leaving Aelita alone. It's a good idea, though. Even though they regularly save the world, they ARE only in ~13 years old. I don't know ifit would have crossed my mind when I was that age.

I like the history aspect, too! I never would have imagined there to be any connection (even indirectly) with Carthage. I bet websites about Carthage are going to get a lot more hits in the near future!

Also, I missed what Aelita said to Sissi! I was laughing at the time... Could someone tell me what happened? I just know it was something good...

Chauve-Souris a écrit:But I wish Odd had decided to call them mantises instead of spiders.

I also find somewhat weird to call "spider" a four-legged creature. Maybe they considered that animating eight legs was a bit too expensive for the 3D artists ;-)

Exactly exact! You'll notice that cartoon octopi are invariably drawn with only six tentacles (Squidward Tentacle, Squiddly Diddly, etc.), and most insect characters have only four, humanoid limbs.
-
But, for Lyoko, why not compromise on six legs, like a real mantis? Then they could stand on a solid base of four rear legs and have the two front legs completely free to zap Lyokids, again, just like a mantis, instead of having to lean on their elbows while fighting. XANA  must not be much of a mechanical engineer.
-
Another thing: they have heads and bodies that are much more insectoid than arachnoid. Odd goofed on that one.
