Nah, comments are in-code documentation. That's the stuff programmers hate to bother with when they are writing the program, but later hate themselves for not putting in when they have to go back and figure out how the code works, to debug or change something.

Some day when you have the time, STP tell us more about your studies. What degree you are working on -- what courses you are taking -- etc.

Be prepared , I tell you all I study :
First of all , anatomy : The most important thing for the moment , that’s interesting but very long !in two months we had nearly 250 pages to learn and it isn’t finished yet ^^ we only made the head the thorax and the nervous system . Our two teachers are totally opposed : one is funny , old ( a kind of wise man with white hairs ) and totally respected by the youngs , the other … despise us … and think He is God . ^^ but both seems to be ... 1 hundred times more intelligents as me !! the first is a famous surgeon specialised in thorax opérations and the second is a neurosurgeon !!
I also study physic and chemistry , I knew these course , so I had no surprise , teachers are commonplace … not really amusing .
Then I learn biochemistry : very very interesting ! I don’t know how to define this matter … the goal is to understand all the reactions in our body … ^^ with glucide , enzymes , proteins … a bit difficult to learn cause the name are long : for instance : chlorure de 1,2 diméthyl amino nophtaléne 5 sutfodyl : => this is a substance’s name ^^ and this isn’t the longest : P The teacher is really funny ! this is one of my favourite course even if I didn’t manage to learn all we wrote ! ( I will ! )
Next : molecular biology : the most difficult ! we learn all we can know ( and more ^^ ) about … the ADN … or DNA . the teacher is the only woman , but she isn’t a good teacher according to me .
And finally … organic chemistry …………. No comment :’( :’( :’( :’(

To sum up , fac is both funny and interesting ! and I got used to this place and the timetable . but as you can see no english this year ! :'( this is sad

Crikey, that seems like an awfully difficult curriculum you are taking. Why all at the same time? That seems like two or three semesters worth of stuff! You could hurt your brain doing that....

I was a Zoology major at Michigan, and I took "Comparative Anatomy", which was reputed to be one of the two hardest subjects at the University. (The other was Organic Chemistry, which I managed to avoid.)

So it is definitely PHP code. Even if it's all written in upper case (valid but completely uncommon) and semi-colons are missing at the end of the statements; but, as you said, folks at MoonScoop are artists, not programmers

Hey, manson! Come back again soon! That's a lot of work you've got there... I took two years of physics in high school, got a 4 (out of 5) on the Advanced Placement exam, which earned me 6 credits for science and talked my way out of the lab portion. Never took science again. Not that I didn't like it, I was just lazy! I remember the people who lived in the room next to me had like 3-4 hours of homework every night. I'm glad I took the easy way out!

In that code, there's a line that reads:

Upon further reflection, I remember that there are some programmers who do NOT comment their program code in the hope that it would become impossible to fire them, because they would be the only ones able to understand the code and make corrections and enhancements. Nasty trick, eh?

What I hate is going back to the code a month or a decade later and trying to figure out what the heck I had been doing. Comments help a lot with that.

That reminds me, CS: So you know that little HTML tool I made to view Yumi2004 and Reverso so I could post and translate all in one page? Well the idea for that came from a project we had to do in school. It was a little Java program that parsed out HTML from different websites and puked out a single HTML page with bits and pieces of the other sites. However, I don't have any of the code (must have done it in the lab), nor do I have a way to compile it if I did. Have you ever done anything like that?

I did a PHP script that fetched a page, stripped out the things I didn't need and saved it in a TXT file. After, another script took the number in the text file, and made it an image using GD.

However, I didn't make a backup, and deleted it

I'm afraid not. I have led a sheltered life in the world of embedded systems and workstation operation, with the result that I am colossally ignorant about things network or Internet. (sob, snif) Much of my work has been done in a delightful but little-known language called "Forth". Them wuz th' days....

I was cleaning out my hard disk a couple of days ago and inadvertantly removed a bit too much of my Firefox files, so I have been using MS Internet Explorer for a couple of days. What a difference! I had no idea what I have been missing. IE is interminably SLOWWW loading screens, even screens that I had just had up previously. It especialy had trouble with sub-forum screens, the ones that list the subjects. It was driving me sane!

Anyhoo, I re-downloaded Firefox, and now it's like a breath of fresh air. I found that the new version (1.5) is ready, and I'm sure it's even faster than 1.0. What a pleasure!

Everyone: if you are using IE, or even Firefox 1.0, get yourself to http://www.mozilla.com/, click the green box, and start really living. It's only 5 Mb, it unpacks and installs like lightning, it keeps all your old bookmarks and (if from Firefox) options and extensions. I didn't even have to re-load my Google toolbar! Ya gotta get it!

The old Firefox was giving me problems by suppressing the opening of disk files -- like if I wanted to bring up an information file or translation utility, XP frequently would not respond for several minutes, and only bring it up when I started pestering the Windows button and/or the start button. Meanwhile everything else was jammed up too. I guess this was a recognized bug, because Ffox 1.5 is not interfering at all, and everything's opening promptly. I am really happy, as that was my only complaint!

The Cool code in JavaScript is the bug. You can find it on Google (I searched for "History.dat exploit").

I'm not part of Firefox dev; but if everyone finds a bug, the bug can be reported to Dev team

I've been using Firefox for a while and I've noticed it getting better with each release. I've always used IE, except for a while when Netscape 4 was superior (Wasn't that in like 1998?). I didn't find the transition from IE to FF very hard at all. In fact, I've compiled a handful of cool extentions which make it much more powerful than IE.
Here's a few little tweaks that make Firefox a little faster:
