Hannukah, Ramadan, KWANZA'S JUST MADE UP, uh...if you can think of a better place to put this, please do.
What'd you get all? My best present was this set of 20 real production sketches from Star Wars: Episode I. Must cost thousands. Went to a Chinese church and the minister, pastor, uh...I'm no Christian, but anyway, the guy told a story about how the Chinese church in New York burned down and all the members went to black church. He said the Blacks and the Yellows were able to get through the hardship. So he was pretty much racist to himself and the entire congregation there....XD. I get Christmas and Hannukah presents, plus my birthday is Janruary five, and Chinese New Year means eighty dollars in February.
Never had enough legos for a castle,,, maybe if I'd started with the keep instead of the dungeon
Anyway, had enough for a good size airport. Most of my minisets were earth movers,,, not sure why.
This years booty was mostly dvd's. "Castle in the Sky", "Ghost in the Shell" movie, "Inuyasha, Swords of an Honourable Ruler", first vol of "Noir". Enya and Narnia CD's. Fuzzy socks that I wear around the house and black silk underwear,,, no sillies, the long warm kind.
Pastor, Reverend, Minister, all the same, just sort of regional. Father for Catholic and Episcopals I believe.

A selection of my other presents: A class at Bondurant Racing School! I'll be driving an open-wheeled Forumla Bondurant car on Phoenix International Raceway! That's so awesome, I can't even describe it. Info at www.bondurant.com A picture of a Forumla Bondurant car

Plus a jacket, some Dr. Pepper Jelly Bellies, and dark choclate gram crackers. Actually, the last item gave a link to was a Hannukah present. Oh yeah, I got a bank too. It's snoopy, but asian. He even has the eyes, probably counterfeit.

I'm slowly working my way through Miyasaki movies.
For me, Spirited Away was, and still is the best. Kiki's Delivery Service was cute, but not great. And Nausica was good after I watched it a few times. I was putting off Princess Mononoki and Castle in the Sky because some of the screen captures made the story seem wrong. I was surprized with both. Castle in the Sky had a very small feeling of Escoflone(sp?) with the airships. But the characters were great. Especially the ones you would expect to be bad guys turning out to be allies and friends. I'm now falling in love with Princess Mononoki where no one is fully evil, or fully good.
Though not a Miyasaki but Ghibli, The Cat Returns was a fun movie to watch, though very short.
Oh, and Happy Birthday

I've been slowly considering manga. I'm thinking I want to see W.I.T.C.H. manga from the beginning if I can find it. Hadn't thought of Nausica, I'll have to keep that in mind and see what I can find.
You get to see anime in the theater? lucky
The very first anime I bought was because Spirited Away and Cowboy Bebop, The movie was never coming within 100 miles of where I live.
Oh, BTW. Turner Classic Movies is going to run Myiazaki. For us it started tonight, (at least it's the first I've seen it) Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. At ToonZone they say it's going to run all of them/

The Nausicaa manga is very good. It's serious and heavy and has sort of a lesson to learn. Not for those looking for something to make them laugh.

They were small, independent art theaters. On the other hand, I saw Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle at dependent, corporate theaters.

Shoot! I wish I'd have known before! So I missed Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. But at least there's other movies every Thursday this month!
kagetsu,
Thanks for the info. I've seen Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, and Kiki's Delivery Service.
Toys R Us was selling My Neighbor Totoro for $8, and I bought it...I haven't watched it yet though!
Miyazaki's films are all really good.
PS Anyone ever hear of Kamikaze Girls, the movie? I heard it was a hit manga/story. Reviews have said it was supposed to be good, and I bought it...Haven't watched that yet, either.

kagetsu, Princess Mononoke is the best (or maybe second best, after Spirited Away).
I don't see why people like Spirited Away so much, I consider Mononoke on a much higher level. My mother bought Nasicca at 'R' Us as a holiday gift, but never gave it to me.
Oh, anyone know that anime that was about this orphan who was a skilled artist and this guy like his grandpa got pissed or something and there was a dog...and Christianity...I'll have to go dig up some old Pokemon VHS, they advertised it there. Castle in the Sky and that movie yet to see...
